isn’t it ?
We’ve a teenage son, he is like a falcon on my shoulder, which has flown away. He is an independent, free soul. However that never happened overnight, even though while looking back 16 years, it does seem as if it happened yesterday.
It’s with the same commitments that we are trying to bring up Magic & Mia. One simply has no ‘escape’. Even though we tend to use big phrases like they are our companions etc…..however in a restricted environment of a city they are & will be like our children. So even as a last resort one wants to have a bit of time to oneself & hides in the toilet to have a smoke in peace….. they are right out there waiting for you to come out. Our son was exactly like that.
Every 3 months everything changes & change is the only constant. In February 2013 a small puppy called Mia, whom i used to carry around in my shoulder-bag is now a human equivalent of a teenage girl.
Now in the same apartment if we’ve a testosterone charged stud like Magic & if we say we are implementing birth control….. well, we are living in fool’s paradise… aren’t we ?
We checked with experts, friends etc on how to go through this period, (literally periods) but unfortunately nothing much was forthcoming. Partner, as usual, came up with an out of the box solution. Not just for birth control….. since M & M have unrestricted access to sofas & beds… one can imagine how many bed covers & sofa covers we have had to wash & change in the last 3 weeks.
It’s not possible to hide in the loo for a quite smoke, they have to be observed from my third eye 24/7 & while going for walks with a ‘diva on heat’ ( even if it is only for toilet jobs). god forbid, if an alpha stray dog follows us, Magic will kill him.
For Magic….like all good men, its been a case of so near, yet so far. He has been really exceptional, in putting up with his frustrations. (respect ! )
For Mia…like all good women, she is living up on her new-found ‘diva‘ status & growing up beautifully. (respect ! )
Both of them have grown & earned many doctorates in these last 3 weeks, even we’ve learned so much, hopefully they will be happy with what we have & not look over the fence.
By the way do read this.
It doesn’t leave one with a good feeling isn’t it, to know that one is living in a city which is the “dog abuse’ capital.
peace & love !
