For Mia we were the providers of food & shelter & the ones who picked up her pooh behind her. Till now (4 months with us) there was absolutely no bonding with her. We were just not in sync. She also used to get some serious shoutings for picking up mud from the pots and for chewing on furniture etc.
She would eat her meals, disappear somewhere below the furniture to sleep, wasn’t too keen to go out either. Plus till recently she did not know how to handle affection.
In the last couple of weeks we can see a huge change in her. Actually she has become quite a sweetheart.
Now there is real communications with us, she talks to us, we also do that to her…. the “shakira style” greetings are getting more & more expressive. The other day she had come with us in the car when we went to drop partner to the airport…….for a couple of minutes she did let us know her non approval of partner going away.
More importantly she seems to enjoy the long walks. The best way to bond is the time we spend out together, chatting during the walks, going through various obstacles especially of stray dogs charging at us, some crazy early morning drivers etc
And isn’t she is very different from Magic…….
For eg Magic is always on the look out for four-legged creatures… whereas Mia is always on the prowl for the winged ones. Magic whines while on a long car ride …..whereas Mia is fine, when she is tired she happily goes to sleep. Mia drinks so much water… whereas Magic hardly drinks any water. Magic has a lopping gait… Mia has a bouncy gait. While food is given Mia takes her time & usually licks her bowl clean…. whereas Magic tends to leave a few bits more often than not. Mia is game to eat anything…. whereas Magic just looks away
Actually i hate these comparisons, but everything is different about them, but the good thing is that they seem to enjoy each others company
peace & love for now
