with us & we are also slowly understanding a few things about her.
Most parents when they have a second child, tend to be more relaxed than the first one. For the first arrival, there is usually a hullabaloo around it, whereas for the second arrival… parents tend to be quite relaxed, ‘guess that is happening with us now with Mia….
Basically i feel like closing my eyes off her for a couple of months & quietly put up with a few hazards of having a “baby” in the house: for eg:
> since she is not yet ready to be taken out; someone has to be home all the time….
> the constant job of pooh/pee cleaning, especially her peeing habits is a big let down…… she keeps doing it anywhere & everywhere & putting her on any furniture is a risk not worth taking. Already we feel our washing machine is running overtime.
> keeping the floor of the house, balcony, lobby spotless, ‘lest she picks up & eats some rubbish.
> she is a bit of a drama queen & if she wants something, she starts howling. Well, its something which i just cannot tolerate….. so she has already got a bit of the newspaper treatment.
For me it’s like … hey, girl c’mon grow up soon !!
On the other hand she is mentored by one of the exceptional dog trainers in the form of our own Magic, who is also friend, philosopher, guide to her (i.e only for now, i am sure she is going to teach him a few things pretty soon). My/our intervention apart from the love & the body warmth is only with a certain word called NO, with the tone of the NO defining what is negotiable & what is not.
This is her favourite place right now….. under our table in the living room. This is her den….where she scoots away when she gets a firing from me or if there is loud noise in the house (like drilling), or if some strangers come in, with whom she is not comfortable, or when Magic gets into one of those loud barking sprees with the dogs down stairs, plus its her sleeping place.
It’s just two weeks she has been with us & by the looks of it she seems getting a bit more relaxed & vice-versa.
& now sometimes one does even spot a smile in her face & a twinkle in her eyes….
Compared to her on the other hand Magic seems to have elevated himself to sainthood…. he can be rechristened Saint Magia, he is so genial & kind with her. When its play time, with Mia jumping all over him…. he just sits still & lets her do all the masti & just uses his face to push her off, almost like a sensei teaching a young upstart a few basic fundas about life.
When it is food time….. one great thing which is happening is that, there are absolutely no left overs, both bowls are licked clean. Both of them feel the grass is greener on the other side.…. so Magic’s bowl gets licked clean by Mia & Magic does the same with her bowl.
We keep Magic’s bowl on a stool & here she is doing the finishing jobs…
reminded me of a certain Jania doing the same….
In the meantime walks with Magic has been getting better & better since we’ve discovered some great walking areas in the near by army area & around the race course etc where vehicular traffic is minimal.
Thats it for now…..
